The Fochin - Rifugio Baita Motin – Fort Venini at Oga e-bike route has great surprises to offer. Telling you in a single article about all the wonder and magic of these places is impossible, so we will just explain how you can experience unique emotions riding an e-bike. And then you just have to try it!

Details of the route

Starting from the light industrial district “Zona artigianale Tres”, follow the forest road that takes you to Fochin through the woods. Some stretches of the road are challenging, but with gradients that are not impossible to master, and you may need the full support of your e-bike.

You will then reach the junction that leads to the ski resort slopes, but you will not go all the way there; turn left and go back into the woods towards Valdisotto.

Here, a further path provides a connection to the forest road of Valdisotto and you can thus reach the Baita Motin hut.

After taking a short, but recommended break, you continue towards the village of Oga along the tarmac road and reach the Fort via the easiest route.

The Fort at Oga 

Fort Venini at Oga is located at about 1730 metres above sea level at a location that used to be identified as Dossaccio. It is named after Captain Corrado Venini and was built between 1908 and 1912 to create a fully functional defence base in Alta Valtellina. The Fort was used during the First World War and it was only at the end of the conflict that it was handed over to the Guardia di Finanza, which expanded it in 1935 with the construction of the Casermetta.

Once you reach it by e-bike, you have the possibility to visit the Fort. It is very interesting to observe how the Fort was built in the past, following well thought-out construction methods to better defend the territory. You can have a look at the wells that once housed the cannons, but also visit the rooms that were once used as kitchens, living quarters or armoury: a beautiful walk through history that you can experience right here.
